Louisiana casinos saw revenue grow 4.8 per cent month-on-month in April, while the state is relaxing the pandemic countermeasures.

US.- The gaming industry in Louisiana has reported a monthly increase in revenues of 4.8 per cent for April.

According to data from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, the 13 riverboat casinos, the land-based casino in New Orleans, and the four racinos in the state generated $235.8m in April, compared to $225.1m in March.

In the New Orleans area, casino revenue was up almost 7 per cent, reporting a total win of $55.1m.

Harrah’s New Orleans generated $25.1m in April, up 11.7 per cent from $22.4m in March.

Among the state’s riverboat casinos, Boomtown New Orleans generated $12.9m, up 4.5 per cent from the previous month’s total of $12.4m. The riverboat is in Harvey, south of downtown New Orleans, on the opposite side of the Mississippi River.

The New Orleans-area Treasure Chest Casino, at Lake Pontchartrain in Kenner, northwest of downtown New Orleans, saw revenue fall 2.9 per cent, from $9.1m in March to $8.8m in April.

But the best performer was the riverboat L’Auberge Baton Rouge. It went from $15.1m in March to almost $18m in April, an 18.9 per cent increase.

Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge’s gaming revenue fell by 0.2 per cent in April. The property reported $13,412 less in revenue than the March total of $6.6m.

West of Baton Rouge, the riverboat casinos in Lake Charles saw an increase in April, including a 5.2 percent boost at L’Auberge Lake Charles. The resort went from $30 million March to $31.6 million one month later.

In Vinton, La., the Delta Downs Racetrack Hotel and Casino experienced a decline of 2.9 percent, dropping from $17.2 million in March to $16.7 million in April. The racetrack is west of Lake Charles near the Texas border.
