Casinos get fined in Pennsylvania

The PGCB issued fines totaling US$1.1 million against five casino operators in Pennsylvania.

US.- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) revealed that after a number of violations, it has issued fines totaling US$1.16 million against five operators in the state. Downs Racing LP received the largest fine, which totaled US$1 million.

As the board said, the fines were the result of Board approvals at its public meeting of consent agreements between the PGCB’s Office of Enforcement Counsel and the other parties involved. Downs Racing LP, operator of Mohegan Sun Pocono in Luzerne County, received two fines that totaled US$1 million: the first one of US$550k for failing over a multi-year period to follow approved internal controls regarding free slot play, the main bank and internal audits, whilst the second one was worth US$450k for conducting business with unlicensed gaming service providers.

Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing Association, operator of Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Dauphin County, was assessed three fines totaling US$90k: a US$75k fine for an intoxicated patron incident and notification failures; a US$10k fine for an underage gaming violation; and a US$5k fine for a failure to safeguard assets.

Moreover, the operator of the Parx Casino in Bucks County, Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment Inc, was subject to two fines that totaled US$35k: a US$25k fine for an intoxicated patron incident and a US$10k fine for an unlicensed employee violation.

Valley Forge Convention Center Partners, LP, operator of the Valley Forge Casino Resort in Montgomery County, and Mount Airy #1, LLC, operator of the Mount Airy Casino Resort in Monroe County, received fines between US$30k and US$10k for internal control violations and failure to cooperate with investigators and table games violations respectively.
