Bloomington votes on gaming licences
The Illinois city of Bloomington conducted a vote on Monday to end its moratorium on video gaming licences.
US.- The Bloomington City Council met on Monday night to vote on a plan to expand video gambling. The measure included allowing for eight more facilities that could offer video gaming in Bloomington.
Bloomington currently has licences at 52 bars, restaurants, truck stops and other businesses, WGLT.org reported. Bloomington Deputy City Manager Billy Tyus said that to cap the number of licences at 60 is to allow limited growth. “There are also other standards, I will call them, being put in place to make sure that what is happening going forward isn’t, I’ll say, in the vein of a video gaming parlor,” said Tyus.
The fee for a video gaming licence would still be US$500 per machine. Large truck stops in the city would be forced to pay US$1.5k for each.
Moreover, the regulations establish that business would have to prove that sales don’t exceed 50% of gross revenue. Truck shops, however, would be allowed to 10 terminals under these state regulations.
The addition of more gambling in the city comes after Illinois passed a massive gambling expansion bill earlier this year.
