Bally’s puts Chicago Casino opening back to September
Bally’s now plans to open the temporary casino next month.
US.- Bally’s plans to open its temporary Chicago casino in September, a few weeks later than initially planned. Gaming machines are installed at the Medinah Temple venue, final approval is needed from the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB).
As the IGB spokeswoman Beth Kaufman told the Chicago Sun-Times, the agency “continues to work with Bally’s Chicago to open the temporary casino at Medinah Temple in an ethical, compliant and efficient manner.”
In May, Bally’s Chicago Casino announced that it was looking to fill hundreds of vacant job positions for its casino. Bally’s has the right to operate a temporary casino for up to three years while the permanent casino resort is constructed.
The permanent Bally’s Chicago is slated to open in late 2025 or early 2026. The $1.7bn venue will have entertainment and a hotel at the 30-acre Chicago Tribune Publishing Center at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Halsted Street.
The resort will feature 3,400 slots, 170 table games and 10 food and beverage venues. It will also offer a 500-room hotel tower with a rooftop bar and a 65,000-square foot entertainment centre.
Wind Creek Chicago Southland opening delayed
Wind Creek Hospitality, run by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, has announced that the opening of the $529m Wind Creek Chicago Southland in Illinois has been delayed. The venue was expected to open in the second half of 2023, but the opening day has now been scheduled for January 2, 2025.
The casino is being built on a 24-acre parcel of land situated on I-80 near Halsted Street and 175th Street. Construction began in June 2022.
