Bally’s has received Community Advisory Committee approval.

US.- Bally’s proposal to build a casino in the Bronx will move forward for consideration following Community Advisory Committee approval.. Meanwhile, The Coney, the Coney Island casino bid by Thor Equities, has been rejected by its assigned committee.

Bally’s project was approved 5-1, becoming the third downstate proposal to advance to state consideration. The venue would be located next to the Trump Organization’s public golf course at Ferry Point. It would include a 500,000-square-foot gaming floor, a 500-room hotel with a spa and meeting space, shops, a 2,000-seat event centre and two parking garages with capacity for up to 4,660 vehicles.

The Coney casino proposal was rejected by a 4-2 vote. Saratoga Casino Holdings, the Chickasaw Nation and Legends and Thor Equities‘ had planned a casino, hotel, and entertainment proposal with an investment of more than $3bn of private funds.

The New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) received eight applications for up to three casino licences in the state. In Manhattan, the Freedom Plaza project, Caesars Palace in Times Square and The Avernir in Hudson Yards were all rejected by local advisory committees. Empire City Casino and Resorts World in Queens received approval from their respective local advisory committees.
