Victoria gambling regulator opens consultation on EGM applications
The regulator said it intends to reduce red tape by ensuring applicants focus on priority factors.
Australia.- The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) has launched a consultation on proposed reforms to the application process for Electronic Gaming Machine (EGM) approvals in Victoria. The updates cover both new premises approvals under section 3.3.6 and EGM increase applications under section 3.4.17 of the Gambling Regulation Act 2003
The regulator said it intends to reduce red tape by ensuring applicants focus on priority factors. It’s inviting feedback from all stakeholders, including, industry participants, councils, experts, and community organisations, on the clarity and practicality of its revised application and hearing processes. Submissions may be lodged via email or uploaded through the regulator’s website until December 19.
Last month, the VGCCC released its Annual Plan for 2025–26. Strategic projects include a five-year public awareness campaign to educate and empower communities about gambling harm, technology upgrades to make regulation more efficient and responsive and supporting mandatory carded play and pre-commitment reforms.
