Okada Manila reopens at 30% capacity

Casinos in Metro Manila are beginning to reopen after being ordered to close on March 15.

Philippines.- Universal Entertainment Corporation has confirmed its Philippines hotel and resort, Okada Manila, will reopen its doors to the public.

It comes after the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) confirmed that some casinos in Manila had been allowed to reopen at 30 per cent capacity on a trial basis.

Since then, major operators such as Solaire Resort & Casino and Melco’s City of Dreams have announced plans to reopen.

Universal did not give a specific date for its reopening but confirmed that it too will begin operating at 30 per cent capacity in the casino are. Up to 30 per cent of slot machines and casino tables installed will be used.

Only some of the resort facilities such as restaurants and hotels will reopen at this stage.

In a release the company said: “We will thoroughly implement hygiene management protocols such as disinfection and cleaning according to the modes of operation of each facility, and strive to operate facilities that customers can enjoy at ease.”

Casinos in Metro Manila were suspended by PAGCOR on March 15 in line with measures established by the government to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.
