MGM Resorts confirmed its partnership with Osaka for RFP process

Japanese financial services group Orix Corporation will also be partnering with the city in the process.

Japan.- Osaka is the first Japanese city to confirmed its partner for their request for proposal (RFP) process. MGM Resorts will be in charge to develop an integrated resort if Osaka is one of the three communities that the national government choose in the next years.

“MGM and Orix – along with other companies that have strong bases in Kansai and Osaka forming the consortium – will create a strong partnership and realize an authentically-Osaka/Kansai IR that will disseminate the appeal of Osaka and Kansai to the world,” said a statement issued by a spokesman for MGM Resorts Japan.

The city has decided to move forward with their plans by including MGM Resorts within the RFP process, making them one of their first official partners. Japanese financial services group Orix Corporation will also be partnering with the city in the process.

Osaka prefecture and city announced their implementation policy draft last Thursday. They stipulated the conditions required of operators for an IR and outlining plans to launch its RFP by December.

MGM Resorts anticipated to other companies that were interested to invest in Osaka. Last Friday, Galaxy announced its interested in some cities, including Osaka. Genting Singapore dreamed with this development.

Japan’s national government also revealed last week that it would accept IR certification applications in early 2021.
