Japan: local authorities IR proposals start in January 2021
They are able to present their proposals till July 30
Japan.- The government of Japan announced that the local authorities that want to present proposals for Integrated Resorts (IR) licenses can do it from January 4 through July 30, 2021.
The Japan Tourism Agency announced on Tuesday certain details about the schedule. They suggested the timetable is the subject of public consultation up to December 18 this year. After that, the government is going to confirm the last details for IR proposal submissions.
According to this Tuesday report, it’s known that there are a big number of interested local governments. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the prefectures of Hokkaido, Nagasaki, Osaka, and Wakayama. Also, cities such as Chiba, Nagoya, Osaka, and Yokohama are interested in hosting an IR.
These cities and prefectures would have until the end of 2020 to establish their implementation policy for such a scheme and select private-sector partners.
As we already mentioned in our website, Osaka showed its ambition to launch a casino resort by 2025. In that year, the city is hosting the World Expo. Even more, Osaka will start recruiting operators for the casino project in December.
