Osaka revealed its conditions for the IR
Japan won’t accept IR certification applications until January 2021 and the three locations will be decided in the end of the year
Japan.- Osaka became yesterday the first city to reveal its plan in the japanese race for an Integrated Resort. The local government published the conditions for the interested operators for the project in Yumeshima.
Some of the requirements they announced is an international conventional hall with a capacity of 6,000 and an exhibition facility of over 100,000 square meters and a hotel of a minimum 3,000 rooms.
Although the idea of Osaka is to finished the IR before the World Expo, the authorities know that it would not be a “duty” for the selected IR operator. “We aim to open before the World Expo, but amidst so many uncertain factors, it is difficult to impose this as a requirement on the operator.”, Osaka Governor Hirofumi Yoshimura explained.
This words come after the main interested in investing in Osaka expressed concern with the short time they would have to construct the IR before the Expo.
The idea of the local government is to launch its RFP process next month, December 2019, and choose its operator around June 2020. The latter part of 2020 will be dedicated to prepare everything to start to construct in 2021. This is related to the information national government revealed this week.
