Macau starts Covid-19 vaccination plan
The first 595 residents have been vaccinated and more than 4,000 have registered to receive their first shot.
Macau.- The Macau government has begun Covid-19 vaccinations using vaccines made in mainland China.
Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng received the first vaccine in a bid to display a positive image and increase residents’ confidence in the safety of the vaccine.
The first 595 residents have now been vaccinated and more than 4,000 have registered to receive their first shot.
The first vaccines, which are being administered free of charge, are being given to frontline workers including medical staff and firefighters.
Ao Ieong U, Macau’s secretary for social affairs and culture, has previously announced that casino dealers will also be on the priority list.
Macau expects to receive between 6 and 10 million tourists this year.
