Macau Police conduct campaign against illegal football betting ahead of World Cup
Police conducted prevention work with youth volunteers.
Macau.- The Judiciary Police have conducted a prevention campaign targeting illegal football betting in Macau as the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches. From June 2 to 8, officers worked alongside youth volunteers to engage residents and distribute leaflets at bars, leisure areas, public spaces and residential areas.
Authorities warned that criminal groups use social media and messaging apps to lure young people into illegal betting, using “match predictions” and quick-profit schemes as bait. Officials stressed that anyone involved risks financial loss and criminal liability.
The initiative also included a digital outreach component, with anti-gambling messages shared across online platforms. Police also distributed materials near educational institutions and held sessions with local associations.
