Macau hotel occupancy at 38.5% in February

Macau’s hotel occupancy declined 1.8 percentage points in February when compared with January occupancy rates.

Macau.- The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) has reported that Macau’s hotel occupancy rate was 38.5 per cent in February.

The number represents a 1.8 percentage point decline compared with January. The average occupancy rate for the first two months of 2021 combined was down 10.9 percentage points year-on-year at 39.4 per cent.

The number of guests checking into hotels and guesthouses grew 147.2 per cent year-on-year to 382,000 in February 2021.

Numbers have started to show an upturn in the last weeks. The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) recently reported the highest single day and weekly visitor arrival totals since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

An average of 27,120 visitors per day arrived in Macau between March 20 and March 26.
