Macau government forecasts US$29bn GGR for 2026

The government has presented the budget for the next year.

Macau.- The government has forecast MOP236bn (US$29.4bn) in gross gaming revenue in Macau for 2026. The estimate is part of the financial-year 2026 budget plan, which has been submitted to the Legislative Assembly.

Income from taxes on the gaming sector is estimated to reach MOP92.53bn (US$11.5bn) for 2026. Out of that amount, the government expects to collect MOP82.60bn from the “special gaming tax”.

Macau imposes an effective tax rate of 40 per cent on casino GGR as stipulated in the current 10-year gaming concessions which began on January 1, 2023.

The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) reported that Macau’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) was MOP24.09bn (US$3bn) in October. Cumulatively, Macau’s GGR for the first ten months of 2025 was MOP205.43bn (US$25.64bn), an 8 per cent increase year-on-year. However, the figure remains 16.7 per cent below the January-October period in 2019, when GGR totalled MOP246.74bn (US$30.8bn).

From January 2025 to October 2025, the Macau gaming industry contributed MOP77.47bn (US$9.68bn) in tax revenue – a 6.1 per cent increase from the same period last year. In the 10-month period, gaming taxes made up 83.7 per cent of total government revenue, according to data released by the Financial Services Bureau.
