Macau GGR rises 6.7% year-over-year in May

Gross gaming revenue reached US$2.8bn.

Macau.- The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has reported that Macau’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) was MOP22.61bn (US$2.8bn) in May. That’s an increase of 6.7 per cent in year-on-year terms and of 13.7 per cent compared to April.

Cumulatively, Macau’s GGR for the five months of 2026 was MOP108.38bn (US$13.44bn), up 10.9 per cent year-on-year. However, the figure remains 13.8 per cent below pre-pandemic levels in 2019, when GGR totalled MOP125.69bn (US$15.6bn).

There were approximately 873,000 inbound visitor arrivals to Macau during mainland China’s Labour Day Golden Week holiday, which ran from May 1 to 5. That’s a rise of 2.7 per cent compared to last year.

Last month, the DICJ announced the reappointment of Ng Wai Han as its director. She will serve in the position for another year, having assumed the role of DICJ director for a one-year term on May 7, 2025, replacing Adriano Marques Ho.
