Kangwon Land extends its closure until April 6
The only casino in South Korea estimates a loss of US$124.8 million from the start of the casino closure
South Korea.- Kangwon Land, the only casino in South Korea where locals are permitted to gamble, will remain closed until April 6 due to the Coronavirus.
The casino has extended the closure for the fifth time. It originally shut down gaming operations for three days from Sunday 23 February to Wednesday 26 February before later extending the closure for three more days to 29 February.
Then the casino management took the decision to extend the closure once again for a further seven days to 6am on Sunday 15 March and then one week more.
The company published a statement last Friday saying that its lost casino sales will be of US$124.8 million from the start of the casino closure on February 23. The estimate was based on Kangwon Land’s daily casino revenue in full-year 2019, added the scheme’s promoter.
The closure is only the second time the casino has shut its doors to the public in its history. It previously closed for one day in 2012 to check security cameras following a security breach.
