India: 9 arrested for illegal gambling
Police have arrested nine men for allegedly running a gambling and betting ring.
India.- Police in India have arrested nine men for alleged involvement in illegal gambling following a raid on a house.
During the raid, police seized mobile phones, money, SIM cards, a laptop and several dice.
According to Hindustan Times, the operation was discovered when police received a tipoff about activity at the house. An officer said those arrested were caught “red-handed”.
In June, police arrested three people for alleged involvement in online gambling and cash fraud operations.
Officers also seized 800 SIM cards and several Paytm barcodes during a raid on a venue in Karimpur, Nadia.
According to Telegraph India, those arrested admitted their links to online gambling associates operating from China.
Police in the state of Telangana also arrested thirteen people who were playing three-card gambling at a private property.
Among those arrested was the Telangana state labour minister’s brother, Ch Narasimha Reddy, a businessman aged 66.
