China keeps ban on inbound and outbound tourism

Group tours and flight plus hotel package bookings on the mainland will remain forbidden due to continued Covid-19 concerns.

China.- China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced it will maintain a ban on inbound and outbound group tourism.

Package tours and the sale of flights and hotels deals are not allowed to resume for now. Agencies and online booking websites must comply with the regulation.

The authorities fear the novel coronavirus will hit again in the upcoming cooler months.

Wong Fai, director of the Travel Industry Council of Macau, told GGRAsia that the ministry’s announcement “just adds to more bad news for the sector.”

China’s Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) for visas to Macau is resumed on September 23. Individual visitors can visit Macau through the current travel bubble but group tours are not allowed.
