Arizona tribal gaming contributions to benefits fund increase in Q3
The Department of Gaming has announced $30.8m in contributions for the third quarter.
US.- The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) has announced $30.8m in tribal gaming contributions to the Arizona Benefits Fund for the third quarter of Fiscal Year (FY) 2025. This amount represents a 7.9 per cent increase when compared to the same period in 2024.
The Arizona Benefits Fund receives 88 per cent of tribal gaming contributions to support instructional improvement in schools, trauma and emergency care, tourism, and wildlife conservation. Contributions for Q3 comprise: Instructional Improvement Fund/Education, $15.3m; Trauma and Emergency Services Fund $7.6m; Arizona Department of Gaming Operating Costs $2.7m; Arizona Wildlife Conservation Fund $2.1m; Tourism Fund $2.1m; and Problem Gambling Education, Treatment and Prevention, $616,901.
Under the Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compact, Tribes with casinos also contribute a percentage of their Class III gross gaming revenue to cities, towns, and counties. Arizona has 26 Class III casinos, which ADG regulates in partnership with Arizona tribes. According to the ADG, over $2.34bn has been contributed to the state and its cities, towns and counties since 2004.
In December 2024, Arizona’s sports betting handle reached $849.3m, up 20.2 per cent year-on-year, but 5.4 per cent behind November’s record of $867.6m. Online spending amounted to $844.3m, while retail sportsbooks took $5.1m.
The Arizona Department of Gaming reported that adjusted gross event wagering receipts before free bet deductions were $49.3m, down 28 per cent year-on-year and 41.4 per cent behind November. Online gross receipts amounted to $49.3m and retail $45,000.
