AGCO issues penalties against Great Canadian Entertainment
The Ontario regulator has issued $151,000 in penalties for failing to prevent minors from accessing gambling.
Canada.- The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has issued $151,000 in penalties to Great Canadian Entertainment. It said the company failed to prevent minors from accessing gambling on multiple occasions at three Toronto-area casinos.
The AGCO reviewed four incidents in which minors gained access to the casino floors and in which some of participated in gambling: two at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto and each at Casino Ajax and Pickering Casino Resort.
Karin Schnarr, chief executive officer and Registrar at AGCO, said: “Ontario casino operators have an obligation to ensure minors are not able to access casino floors or activities such as slot machines or table games. The AGCO will continue to monitor and hold all casino operators accountable for fulfilling this important role.”
Great Canadian Entertainment has the right to appeal to the Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT).
In April, AGCO issued a $120,000 penalty against Ontario Gaming GTA Limited Partnership, the operator of Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto, for failing to detect a cheat-at-play and dealer collusion scheme. The regulator also served BetMGM Canada with a fine of $110,000 for violations of igaming rules in two incidents in 2024 in which it engaged marketing companies that offered cash to members of the public in return for opening new accounts.
