Tunisian studio hits the global stage with action game HeistFest on Steam

Tunisian developer Amilcar Technologies launches HeistFest on Steam Early Access, bringing the country’s indie game scene to a global audience.

Tunisia.- Tunisian game developer Amilcar Technologies has launched its action game, HeistFest, on Steam Early Access, marking a major step onto the global stage for the country’s independent game industry. The game, released on October 21, casts players in the role of a wanted criminal racing against the clock while evading police officers.

HeistFest features a retro black-and-white aesthetic inspired by locations such as Italy and Egypt. The game uses a physics-based driving system, allowing players to improvise their escapes, unlock vehicles and build custom power-ups. Procedurally escalating challenges ensure varied and replayable gameplay.

Games Industry Africa (GIA) said: “HeistFest throws players into the role of a wanted criminal racing against time and law enforcement in a sprawling, destructible hand-drawn cityscape.

HeistFest puts players in the driver’s seat of high-stakes escapes across a vividly hand-drawn city.

The game’s development was supported by indie.io, a platform that assists independent developers with resources and community engagement. The developers also plan to release developer diaries, behind-the-scenes features and new content updates in the months leading up to the full release.

GIA added: “For Amilcar Technologies, based in Tunisia, HeistFest represents more than just a game launch. It is a statement of the country’s growing role in the international indie development scene.”

A free demo is available during Steam Next Fest, giving players a chance to experience the game ahead of its full release.
