SARGF seeks graduates for responsible gambling internship
Interns will conduct screenings and assessments to identify individuals at risk of gambling-related harm.
South Africa.- The South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF) has invited applications for four graduate internship positions under the National Responsible Gambling Programme (NRGP).
According to the foundation, the 24-month internship is aimed at graduates seeking careers in gambling harm reduction and mental healthcare while supporting the delivery of responsible gambling services across South Africa.
Successful applicants will be based at the foundation’s offices in Parktown, Johannesburg, and will be required to travel within South Africa as part of the programme.
The internship covers several areas of responsible gambling. Interns will conduct screenings and assessments to identify individuals at risk of gambling-related harm, provide counselling and support services, facilitate referrals to treatment professionals, and participate in public awareness and advocacy initiatives.
They will also assist with community education programmes, maintain records of counselling and outreach activities, support programme monitoring and evaluation, and manage self-exclusion referrals for individuals seeking to restrict their access to gambling.
SARGF said applicants must hold either a BA Honours degree in Psychology, a BA in Social Work, or a BA in Education with a major in Psychology and/or Early Childhood Development. Candidates must also hold a valid driver’s licence, be fluent in English, and be registered with either the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
The foundation said preference will be given to graduates who completed their qualifications within the past two years and have not previously been employed.
Interested candidates must submit a curriculum vitae and a one-page cover letter by the application deadline of July 17, 2026.
