South Africa.- The National Gambling Board (NGB), in partnership with the Limpopo Gambling Board (LGB) and the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF), is rounding off Responsible Gambling Month with awareness outreaches on responsible and illegal gambling in Polokwane and surrounding areas.

The campaign, which started on Monday, November 25, and runs through Friday, November 29, aims to educate punters in the Limpopo province about responsible gambling and the risks associated with illegal online betting.

On Monday, the team visited Meropa Casino & Entertainment World and Bettabets at Kerk Street, Polokwane, where they engaged with bettors, distributed educational materials and offered guidance on setting betting limits and recognising signs of problem gambling.

The campaign drive continued its outreach on Tuesday at Topbet in Polokwane and State Eating House in Botlokwa, followed by activations on Wednesday at VBetSA Tibani and Percy Pepsi Mashashane.

Representatives showcased responsible gambling initiatives and offered one-on-one consultations to help the patrons of these establishments assess their gambling habits. They also encouraged individuals struggling with gambling addiction to take advantage of resources available to them, particularly the SARGF’s national toll-free helpline and online support services.

On Thursday, the campaign continued at Hollywood Bets Nelson Mandela Drive and Mokopane Racing Lebowakgomo, and will wrap up at Malefu Liquor Restaurant, Ga-Thoka and Bettabets Bochum on Friday.

The initiative signifies a collaborative relationship between casino and entertainment operators, responsible gambling bodies and regulatory authorities in South Africa, to protect vulnerable individuals and ensure a safer gaming environment.

It follows the key resolutions of the Responsible Gambling Summit that recently took place in Gauteng on November 13, which emphasised the need for industry-wide cooperation to address problem gambling.
