Limpopo Gambling Board expands CSR support for vulnerable groups in Limpopo
The regulator said the initiatives reflect its commitment to supporting disadvantaged communities, promoting dignity and improving access to assistance for vulnerable people across the province.
South Africa.- The Limpopo Gambling Board (LGB) has provided R435,595 (US$26,939) in corporate social responsibility (CSR) support to organisations and individuals supporting vulnerable communities across the province.
The details were disclosed by the LGB in a social media post on August 13, which outlined several CSR interventions involving gender-based violence awareness and disability support.
The LGB purchased gender-based violence awareness materials worth R150,795 (US$9,339) for The Eye of the Nation, aimed at strengthening the organisation’s campaigns to educate communities about gender-based violence and protect vulnerable groups.
19 wheelchairs valued at R140,400 (US$8,696) were also donated to the KG Maluleke Memorial Disability Integration Organization, for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who cannot afford mobility aids.
A further wheelchair was handed to a learner with a disability at Ntodeni Secondary School in Gaba Village, who had previously relied on fellow learners and teachers for mobility within the school. The donation is expected to give the learner greater independence and reduce the need to rely on others to move around the school.
The LGB’s CSR programme also extended to Khomotsong Care Centre for the Disabled in Zebediela, where residents received further wheelchairs during Mandela Day celebrations.
The ceremony was officiated by Limpopo MEC for Social Development Fulufhelo Florence Radzilani.
