Limpopo Gambling Board donates to Khomotsong disability care centre
As part of the outreach, the board also conducted a responsible gambling awareness session for attendees.
South Africa.- The Limpopo Gambling Board (LGB) has marked Mandela Month with a donation of essential supplies to Khomotsong Care Centre for the Disabled in Zebediela. In a statement issued on July 22, the regulator said it provided the facility with wheelchairs, blankets, food supplies, toiletries and paint to support the living conditions of residents.
Khomotsong Care Centre is home to 34 children living with disabilities and is supported by a team of 15 staff members. The facility was established by Mrs Vilamina Babili to provide specialised support for its residents.
The handover ceremony was attended by traditional leaders, ward councillor Portia Lekgwathi, representatives of Disabled People South Africa, parents of the children and members of the local community.
As part of the outreach, LGB chief executive officer Gregory Makoko also educated attendees about responsible gambling and the risks of illegal gambling.
The initiative forms part of Mandela Month activities, during which organisations across South Africa support community projects in honour of Nelson Mandela’s legacy of service.
