Kenya’s Esports Series 2025 puts emerging gamers in the spotlight
Nationwide tournament aims to discover talent, professionalise the esports ecosystem and put Kenya on the international gaming map.
Kenya.- Kenya has officially launched the 2025 National Esports Series, a nationwide tournament set to uncover fresh talent and shake up the country’s gaming scene. The series gives amateur players across Kenya the chance to compete, gain national recognition and help shape the future of competitive esports.
The series got underway on October 4 in Nakuru with the Flamingo Series, followed by the Rift Series in Eldoret on October 18. Events are set to hit Mombasa, Kisumu and Nairobi, building toward a grand finale in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, on December 12.
The tournament will feature eight top titles: eFootball Mobile, eFootball Console, EA FC 26, FC Mobile, Tekken 8, PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile and Mobile Legends. Winners from each city will advance to the national finals, with the chance to represent Kenya at international esports events, including the Global Esports Games.
Rising talent highlighted
Esports Kenya President Ronny Lusigi highlighted the significance of the series and its focus on nurturing “grassroots talent”.
Lusigi said, according to Citizen Digital: “This is a pivotal moment for Kenyan esports. We are committed to reaching grassroots players beyond the capital and discovering fresh talent from across the country. Alongside the tournament, we are providing training for referees and engaging with local communities.”
Beyond the competitions, the series aims to professionalise Kenya’s esports ecosystem. Workshops and training for referees, team managers and technical staff will run alongside the tournament, strengthening governance and operations across the country.
With smartphones more common, internet access improving, and youth engagement soaring, Kenya is emerging as a regional esports hub. The series opens a new chapter for gaming in the country, giving amateur players clear pathways to compete while strengthening the wider esports ecosystem.
