Gambia joins expanding African regulatory lineup at GTSA 2026
Former magistrate Pierrette Mendy-Sarr added to Kenya summit as GTSA sharpens focus on African gaming oversight.
The Gambia.- The Gambia will be represented in African gaming policy discussions at Gaming Tech Summit Africa (GTSA) 2026 after organisers confirmed Pierrette Mendy-Sarr, head of the legal and compliance unit at the Gambia Tourism Board, as part of the event’s expanding policy and compliance speaker lineup.
GTSA 2026 will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from June 2-4 and is expected to bring together regulators, operators, technology providers and investors from across the continent as African jurisdictions continue tightening gambling oversight, licensing frameworks and tax policies.
Announcing her participation in a LinkedIn post, GTSA said Mendy-Sarr “brings a rare perspective at the intersection of law, regulation, and industry oversight.” The summit organiser added: “As more operators explore new African markets, these are exactly the conversations that matter.”
Mendy-Sarr brings more than eight years of judicial experience from her previous role as a Magistrate, alongside her current leadership responsibilities in compliance, policy development and corporate governance at the Gambia Tourism Board. Her inclusion reflects GTSA’s increasing focus on regulatory dialogue as African gaming markets face growing scrutiny around licensing, compliance, taxation and responsible gambling.
The summit would focus on “Building Africa’s Sustainable & Scalable Gaming Tech Industry”, with discussions expected to address licensing fragmentation, tax inconsistencies, enforcement challenges, fintech integration and sustainable market growth across the continent.
Mendy-Sarr joins a wider lineup of regulatory and governance figures expected at the summit, including Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority representative Bashir Are, Botswana Gambling Authority CEO Peter Kesitilwe, Namibia Gambling Board executive John Erastus and Zimbabwe Lotteries and Gaming Board CEO Misheck Chingozha.
GTSA said this year’s edition will focus on building a “sustainable and scalable” gaming technology sector across Africa as operators continue exploring expansion opportunities in both established and emerging markets.
