Former Ethiopian Lottery Service deputy CEO joins ALGA board

Ethiopia.- The African Lotteries & Gaming Association (ALGA) has appointed former Ethiopian Lottery Service (ELS) deputy chief executive officer for licensing and control, Yodit Wolde, to its Board of Directors as the organisation continues to expand its regulatory expertise across the continent.
Wolde joins the board after overseeing regulatory initiatives at the ELS, where she played a key role in strengthening licensing procedures, improving oversight of licensed operators and tackling illegal lottery activities.
During her tenure at ELS, the organisation introduced reforms aimed at modernising Ethiopia’s lottery regulatory and legal framework. These included the development of monitoring systems intended to enhance compliance among licensed operators and improve regulatory supervision.

The association also highlighted her work in promoting responsible gaming through public awareness initiatives, operator accountability and ethical industry practices designed to protect players and communities.
In addition to regulatory reforms, Wolde has contributed to streamlining licensing processes, strengthening commission collection mechanisms and improving operational efficiency, measures that have helped support the sector’s revenue generation and long-term sustainability.
Welcoming her to the board, ALGA said it expects Wolde’s regulatory expertise and leadership to support its efforts to bring together regulators, lottery operators and other industry stakeholders in advancing responsible, innovative and transparent lottery and gaming sectors across the African continent.
Wolde’s appointment follows a series of recent additions to ALGA’s Board, including Moss Gondwe and Moustapha Camara, chairperson of Senegal’s National Lottery (LONASE).
