Burundi’s Bubet enters basketball market with sponsorship deal
Licensed sportsbook signs 2026 season agreement with Burundi’s leading domestic basketball team that has won multiple national titles.
Burundi.- Leading sportsbook Bubet has expanded its presence in Burundi’s sports sector through a sponsorship agreement with Urunani Basketball Club, marking a new connection between the country’s regulated betting industry and one of its most successful basketball teams.
The agreement was signed on April 6 in Bujumbura during the third edition of the Urunani Fans Celebration, a public event attended by supporters. Under the deal, Bubet becomes an official sponsor of Urunani Basketball Club for the 2026 season.
Urunani Basketball Club is widely recognised as one of Burundi’s leading teams, with multiple national titles and appearances in regional competitions, positioning it as a prominent name in the country’s basketball landscape.
Bubet operates within Burundi’s state-controlled betting market under the oversight of the National Lottery of Burundi (LONA), which supervises gambling activity across the country. Bubet provides a comprehensive gambling platform featuring extensive sports betting markets, live wagering and a suite of digital casino games including the popular Aviator crash game.
The development comes as Burundi advances reforms to its gambling framework, with plans to transition LONA into a National Gambling Regulatory Authority by mid-2026. The transition is expected to strengthen oversight of betting activities, including licensing and compliance requirements.
The Bubet–Urunani Basketball Club agreement represents a confirmed sponsorship within Burundi’s regulated betting ecosystem, linking a licensed operator with a leading domestic sports organisation as regulatory changes continue in 2026.
