We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort opens in Arizona

Arizona’s latest casino resort, which replaces the original Fort McDowell Casino, brings new competition to the state.

US.- The We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort in Arizona is officially open for business, offering a variety of gaming facilities and dining.

The property, which is owned and operated by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, has 850 new slot machines, a 400-seat bingo hall, 22 blackjack tables, and a spacious poker room featuring five tables for live games and tournaments.

There is also a wide range of restaurants. Guests can eat in private dining areas, patios, and a piano lounge.

All gaming areas, hotel rooms, dining areas and public spaces are smoke-free. Smokers have the choice of four outdoor areas.

Back in August, panelists at the National Indian Gaming Association’s “New Normal” webinar agreed that smoking bans are good for business. At the time, 150 out of 500 tribal venues prohibited smoking.

President of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, Bernadine Burnette, said: “We’re proud that we were Arizona’s first casino and are now the state’s newest casino.

“Gaming has been a part of our tribal community for the past three decades and has allowed us to provide financial security for our members and employees.

“Our upscale new casino will allow us to take gaming to an entirely new level while keeping a Native American look and feel – with design elements of earth, water, fire and basket-weaving that are so important to our culture.”
