Virginia sports betting handle increases in July

US.- The Virginia Lottery has released its report on sports wagering activity for July. The sports betting handle was $429.2m. That’s a rise of 13.7 per cent year-over-year.

Mobile wagers totalled $427.1m and retail bets $2.1m. Adjusted gross revenue (AGR) was $45m. Bettors won $378m, which meant a combined 11.51 per cent operators win percentage. Of the fourteen mobile operators and three casinos, ten posted net positive AGR, leading to $6.8m in tax payments.

AGR is taxed at 15 per cent, with 97.5 per cent for the state’s General Fund and 2.5 per cent for the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund administered by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.

Gaming revenue at Hard Rock Bristol, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, and Caesars Virginia totalled $84.7m in July, up 42.8 per cent year-over-year. Slots generated $62m and table games $22.7m.

Caesars Virginia reported $35m in adjusted gross gaming revenue (AGR), with $24.6m from slot machines and $10.5m from table games. Rivers Casino Portsmouth’s AGR was $26.8m, with $18.8m from slots and $7.9m from table games, and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol posted $23m in AGR, $18.7m from slot machines and $4.2m from table games.
