Colorado sports betting handle increases in July
The handle was up 9.96 per cent year-over-year.
US.- The Colorado Department of Revenue has published its financial report for July. The state’s sports betting betting handle totalled $352.3m, up 9.96 per cent year-over-year. Gross gaming revenue (GGR) was $35.5m.
Baseball led the market with $104.3m in wagers – $103.4m online and $876,707 from retail locations – followed by basketball with $60.3m ($60m online and $284,193 from retail) and tennis $35.21m ($35.2m online and $10,004 from retail).
The state collected over $2.72m in taxes, a 14.6 per cent increase.
Christopher Schroder, director of the Division of Gaming, said: “Colorado’s continued growth in sports betting revenue is a testament to the success of a well-regulated market. These funds are vital for our state’s water conservation efforts. We remain committed to ensuring responsible gaming practices are at the forefront, providing resources and support for those who need it to maintain a healthy and sustainable gaming environment.”
The Colorado Division of Gaming recently reported that the state’s sports betting wagers and taxes set new records in fiscal year 2024-25. Players wagered $6.3bn, $287m more than in the previous year and 130 per cent more than in the first full fiscal year of sports betting in Colorado, in 2020-21.
Taxes reached a record $37m, surpassing last year’s previous high by $6.4m.
In July, Hard Rock Bet launched in Colorado, its ninth US state. It’s the first sportsbook operator to launch in Colorado since January 2024. The state now has 13 online sportsbooks.
