Virginia Lottery Board approves PPE Casino Resorts Petersburg licence
The venue is set to become the fifth operational casino in the state, with a temporary facility scheduled to open later this month.
US.- The Virginia Lottery Board has unanimously approved the casino facility operator’s licence for PPE Casino Resorts Petersburg. The venue has become the fifth approved casino facility operator in the state.
According to the Lottery, PPE Casino Resorts Petersburg plans to open a casino near the intersection of Interstate 95 and Wagner Road. The planned casino in Petersburg will join four other approved casinos in Bristol, Danville, Norfolk, and Portsmouth.
The approval follows a comprehensive review of application materials submitted by PPE Casino Resorts Petersburg and an extensive background investigation by the Virginia Lottery.
The temporary Live! Casino Virginia in Petersburg is scheduled to open on January 22, 2026. The Cordish Companies’ permanent Live! Casino & Hotel Resort will follow in 2027.
The temporary casino will span approximately 75,000 square feet and will have 900 slot machines, 33 table games, and a bar and quick-service dining area. It is being constructed on the same site off Interstate 95 where the permanent $1.4bn casino will be located.
Virginia casino revenue rises in November
The Virginia Lottery released its report on casino gaming activity for November. Revenue at Hard Rock Bristol, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, Caesars Virginia, and The Interim Gaming Hall Norfolk totalled $82.4m. That’s an increase of 29.5 per cent year-over-year and 0.3 per cent from October 2025.
Of the total casino revenue, slots generated $61.2m and table games $21.2m. Virginia collected $18.9m in taxes paid to the Gaming Proceeds Fund.
