Third PA minicasino awarded to Lawrence County
The third of ten mini casino licenses in Pennsylvania has been awarded to Lawrence County’s US$21 million bid.
US.- Pennsylvania continues to execute its gambling expansion plan and has just awarded the third mini casino license. Lawrence County will host it as the owners of the Mount Airy Casino Resort in the Pocono Mountains submitted the winning bid of US$21.18 million and earn the right to develop the venue.
Lisa DeNaples, owner and managing trustee of Mount Airy Casino Resort said: “This is a monumental day as we look to the future of the Mount Airy brand, knowing that the creation of a second casino resort will benefit Pennsylvania’s economy and communities.” The businesswoman highlighted the company’s efforts in their current venue and assured they will “use that passion to create a premier casino in North Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.”
A mini-casino should be about a tenth the size of a large casino as it is allowed to have 300 to 750 slot machines and up to 30 table games.
Pennsylvania has already has approved the Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing Association LLC US$50.1 million bid for a mini-casino in the York area and the US$40.1 million bid by Stadium Casino LLC for its own in Derry Township.
