Tennessee sports betting handle rises year-on-year despite monthly dip

The gross handle was the lowest since August 2024.

US.- Tennessee’s sports betting gross handle totalled $350.9m in June, down 19.8 per cent from May but up 2.5 per cent year-over-year. It was the lowest handle since August 2024.

The Tennessee Sports Wagering Council (SWC) reported that after $1.5m worth of adjustments, gross wagers for the month amounted to $352.4m. Privilege tax from wagering totalled $6.4m. Operators pay 1.85 per cent of their betting handle – Tennessee is the only US state to calculate tax in this way.

The council did not provide a breakdown of betting by operator or sport nor information on operator revenues. The state’s monthly record for gross sports wagers is $598.6m, set in November 2024.

In June, SWC fined offshore sportsbooks Lowvig and Sportsbetting.ag $50,000 each for operating illegally in the state. The regulator said they had failed to comply with cease-and-desist letters issued in April.
