The regulator will inspect the location of slot machines at Svenska Spel’s gaming halls.

Sweden.- The Swedish gambling regulator Spelinspektionen has announced that it will undertake supervisory measures at Svenska Spel’s gaming halls. The regulator said it would inspect all of the state-controlled operator’s land-based gaming venues to check the placement of slot machines.

Spelinspektionen said it would conduct site inspections and also review written documentation requested from the operator.

Meanwhile, former Spelinspektionen director general Camilla Rosenberg has reflected on almost seven years at the regulator on leaving the role at the end of last month. The regulator noted that her tenure had been marked by extensive changes, including reregulation of the Swedish gambling market in 2019 and the launch of Spelpaus.se during the same period.

“Being able to help lead the Swedish Gambling Authority through this transformation has been both intense and educational. As an authority, we have achieved a lot in a short time, not least thanks to the broad expertise the authority possesses,” she said.

“The Swedish Gambling Authority is a small authority in a big world and my time at the Swedish Gambling Authority has been transformative, intense and fun – all at the same time”.

Rosenberg leaves Spelinspektionen to head up the Swedish Real Estate Inspectorate.

In other recent actions, the regulator issued a SEK 4.8m (€438,000) fine against  Kanon Gaming for duty of care responsibility failings, and it issued a banning order against Yomoly Ltd, prohibiting it from offering gambling services to Swedish players without a national licence. This latest prohibition order follows similar measures against Bitx Operations and Ryker BV.
