Sports betting market grows in Delaware
The gambling modality increased revenues by 151% month-on-month during November operations.
US.- Sports betting has been regulated and legalised in a number of states in the US, and Delaware was one of the first to jump on the bandwagon in order to benefit from it. The results have indicated that the state made the right decision, as it recorded a 151% month-on-month increase in November.
The latest figures indicate that the total handle for the month ended November 25 increased to US$16.4 million. After player winnings (US$15.1 million) and vendor fees (US$160k), the state was left with US$1.1 million in revenue, which represents a 151% month-on-month increase.
Despite the impressive increase in revenue, the amount that was left for the state is still behind September’s record of US$3.2 million, but recent strong growth in customer wagers could indicate that there is a positive trend going on.
Delaware Park was once again the biggest contributor to the state as it amounted US$805k of the total revenue, with approximately 339k bets placed throughout November at local authorised facilities.
On the other hand, online gaming reported an 8% decrease in revenue to US$209k. The performance was mainly driven by video lottery games, which totalled US$123k of the total, followed by table games (US$68k).
