Sports betting apps go live in New Jersey
Apple’s App Store cleared three sports betting apps to go live and made them available for download over the weekend.
US.- Sports betting keeps taking over the US gaming market as states begin legalise the segment. New Jersey, the first one to take action after the Supreme Court struck PASPA down, continues to set the pace as it has now three new sports betting apps fully available to operate in the mobile market.
Last weekend, Apple cleared iOS apps for BetStars, playMGM and 888 and made them available for download on its App Store just before the NFL Sunday. All three of them were already available on Android’s Play Store but have now gone live on all mobile devices as they can also be downloaded on iPhones or iPads.
According to information from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) released earlier this month, sports betting activity in the state nearly doubled in September, mainly because of the start of the NFL season in the country.
The figures show that sports betting activity reached the US$183.9 million mark in September – almost double August’s US$95.6 million. It is believed that the start of the football season and a new wave of internet gamblers helped September’s impressive performance.
