Spanish online gambling GGR hits €454.1m in Q1
Online gross gambling revenue was up 13.9 per cent in year-on-year terms.
Spain.- The Spanish gambling regulator, the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ), has reported that online gross gambling revenue (GGR) generated in the country reached €454.1m in Q1. That’s a rise of 13.9 per cent year-on-year and a 6.4 per cent decrease from the previous quarter.
Deposits were up by 17.6 per cent year-on-year and 5.6 per cent quarter-on-quarter at €1.59bn. Withdrawals were up 12 per cent year-on-year to €184.7m. When compared to the previous quarter, withdrawals were up 9.1 per cent.
According to the DGOJ, online casino was again the main driver, contributing €247.7m, 54.5 per cent of all online gambling revenue. This was up 21.7 per cent year-on-year and up 2.4 per cent from Q4 2025. Within this, the standout performers were slots, up 22.6 per cent, and live roulette, up 23.5 per cent.
Meanwhile, sports betting revenue came in at €174.4m, representing 38.4 per cent of all revenue. The figure was up 5.1 per cent from the first quarter of 2025 but down 17.2 per cent from Q4. Pre-match betting revenue was down 18.2 per cent while in-play revenue was up 34.4 per cent. Other bet types saw a rise of 90.8 per cent, and horse racing betting revenue grew by just 0.7 per cent.
Poker revenue was up 10.8 per cent at €28.2m (6.3 per cent of all revenue), with increases in revenue from both tournament and cash games, up 10.8 per cent and 11 per cent, respectively. Bingo revenue was down 0.4 per cent at €3.6m.
Marketing spending was also up in Q1, rising 12 per cent year-on-year to €184.7m. Some €91m was spent on promotions, €73.85m on advertising, €17.4m on affiliates and €2.6m on sponsorship.
