South Dakota gaming handle rises in December
Wagers were up 2 per cent year-over-year.
US.- South Dakota casino wagers reached $121.8m in December, up 2 per cent year-over-year and 5.87 per cent sequentially.
According to the Department of Revenue, slot machines continued to account for the vast majority with a handle of $113.31m, up 2 per cent year-on-year and 6 per cent sequentially. The statistical win from slots amounted to $10.51m, up from $10.06m in the same period the previous year.
The table games handle increased by 0.53 per cent year-on-year and 4.45 per cent from November to $7.33m. Blackjack remained the most popular table game, generating $3.37m in bets. The statistical win reached $1.35m.
The sports betting handle was $1.21m, up 18.1 per cent from the same month in 2024 and up 2.03 per cent sequentially. The American Football League generated a handle of $411,016, followed by the NCAA FB with $357,022 and the NCAA men’s basketball with $242,813. Operators recorded a statistical win of $125,591, up from a loss of $22,332 in December 2024.
Taxable adjusted gross revenue (AGR) for the month totalled $11.38m. That’s an increase of 6.26 per cent in year-on-year terms and a rise of 6.94 per cent from November. The state collected $1.02m in tax, with 1 per cent allocated to the State General Fund and the remainder distributed to other funds, including tourism and Lawrence County.
