AGA will host a panel in Schenectady to discuss the impact that casinos face on local small businesses.
US.- The American Gaming Association (AGA) will host a panel tomorrow at the Rivers Casino & Resort that will focus on the effect that casinos have on small local businesses. The panel is part of American Gaming Small Business Jobs Tour hosted by AGA, the group that represents the casino industry in the American country.
Some of the panelists that will discuss the effects of casinos are tomorrow at 10:30 am will be: Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy, Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority Chairman Ray Gillen, Rivers Casino & Resort General Manager Mary Cheeks and Proctors CEO Philip Morris, among others, local media reported.
This meeting comes after a report that emerged in February that talked about the different ways in which casinos in the area could boost local businesses. The report unveiled by the American Gaming Association was based on case studies conducted in Massachusetts, Maryland, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Iowa.
Earlier this year, the New York State Gambling Commission revealed that Upstate New York’s three casinos generated US$133 million between the first day of December 2016 and the last one of May 2017. As the commission explained, it was expected that commercial casinos in New York would generate US$325 million this year, but according to calculations, the new number would be set close to US$267 million, approximately US$58 million less than the original number.
