Rhode Island hits record sports betting handle in September

Player spending on sports betting in Rhode Island reached a record $41.2m.

US.- Rhode Island has reported a record sports wagering handle of $41.2m in September, 31.6 per cent higher year-on-year and up 71.7 per cent from $24m in August 2021. The handle was split evenly between mobile betting and retail, with mobile revenue amounting to $21.1m and retail $20.1m.

Retail spend included $15.2m at the Twin River sportsbook and $5m at Tiverton Casino. The state’s share amounted to $4m, up 66.7 per cent from $2.4m in the same month last year also 263.6 per cent from $1.1m in August of this year.

Revenue was $4m. Mobile betting accounted for $2.1m, while retail revenue from the Twin River and Tiverton Casino sportsbooks reached $1.9m. The retail site with the best performance was Twin River with $1.3m in revenue, while the Tiverton Casino sportsbook generated $591,239.

For the financial year to date, sports betting revenue in Rhode Island reached $8.4m for the three months to the end of September, with the state’s handle reaching $87.3m.
