The Swedish gambling regulator has hit Nero Media with an injunction following an investigation into suspicions that it was taking bets from Swedish players.

Sweden.- The gambling regulator Spelinspektionen has taken out an injunction against Curaçao-based Nero Media ordering it to stop targeting Swedish players immediately.

The injunction follows an investigation into suspicions that Nero’s Goodwincasino was offering services to Swedish customers.

The regulator found that the casino had material available in the Swedish language targeting players in the country and used no block against Swedish customers despite not being licensed in the country.

As such, it said Goodwincasino was actively targeting Swedish players.

Spelinspektionen says it invited Nero to comment but received no reply. It becomes the fifth company to receive an injunction from Spelinspektionen this year.

Four of the five companies to receive orders were based in Curaçao, the last being Indigo Soft, which received an injunction last month.

A Swedish government report has recommended giving Spelinspektionen the power to block access to any form of unlicensed gambling, irrespective of whether the operator is found to be actively targeting Swedish players.

Under the proposed changes, it would be enough to find that an operator was not blocking players. The Netherlands recently introduced such a measure to coincide with the opening of its regulated igaming market.
