Pennsylvania to discuss gaming expansion
Pennsylvania Senate will begin September’s session with gaming expansion debates.
US.- Pennsylvania is set to approve soon an expected gaming expansion that includes online gaming platforms, video gaming terminals and daily fantasy sports. As revealed by the Gambling Insider news outlet, the state’s Senate will begin its September session with debates about iGaming legislation.
“I guess we should thank the House for bringing this issue to light, though I find it disturbing that members of this legislature may have known about possible illegal gaming machines and done nothing about it,” Pennsylvania Senator and Chairman of Senate Law & Justice Committee Chuck McIlhinney commented in a recent statement.
The Committee is receiving on September 19 new proposals to legislate the gaming industry. The latest novelty for Pennsylvania’s gaming expansion plans are the video gaming terminals (VGT), which will be addressed during September’s session.
“I think it is important that we show the people of Pennsylvania we can address the problem of illegal VGTs before we talk about adding 55,000 new machines into venues across the state,” added the state official. “These hearings are an important first step in that process.”
Meanwhile, as reported by the Gambling Insider, Representative Mark Mustio, an advocate for VGT commented, “Casinos don’t want to share an inch of the playing field with small businesses and are in fact lobbying hard to silence them completely. Don’t let them silence you!”
