Pennsylvania regulator to hold public hearing on Live! Casino Philadelphia licence renewal
The meeting will be held on at the Philadelphia State Office Building.
US.- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) will hold a hearing on August 13 to receive public comment on the renewal of the Category 2 Slot Machine Operator Licence for Stadium Casino RE, operator of Live! Casino Philadelphia. The hearing will be held at the Philadelphia State Office Building.
Citizens, public officials and community groups can choose to speak or submit written testimony by August 11. Government officials, community groups and individuals who have registered to speak will be posted on the board’s website.
To implement the renewal requirement, the board follows two steps. First, a public input hearing is held in the municipality where the casino operates before the director of the board’s Office of Hearings and Appeals for the purpose of receiving documentary evidence. The hearing record, along with a report from the Hearings and Appeals, is transmitted to the board. The second step is a separate public hearing in Harrisburg where representatives of the casino licensee offer evidence and oral arguments.
The Pennsylvania Senate has approved legislation sponsored by Senator Dan Laughlin to reduce the minimum number of slot machines on casino floors. Senate Bill 840 would reduce the minimum number of slot machines required at Category 1 and Category 2 casinos from 1,500 to 1,000. The current 1,500-machine minimum was established nearly two decades ago as part of the state’s original gaming legislation.
The PGCB reported that combined revenue from all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $601.8m in May, up 15.52 per cent year-over-year and 8.7 per cent from April. It’s the first time that monthly gross gaming revenue has exceeded $600m.
