South Korea.- Paradise City, the South Korean integrated resort that opened its doors to the public in April, has announced that during the first 100 days of operation the facility has welcomed an average of 3.1k visitors.
A Paradise City spokesperson told local newspaper Chosun Ilbo that since the first phase opened, about 90 percent of hotel rooms have been occupied, and from April 20 to this month Paradise Resort has enjoyed the visit of 310k visitors. The projected numbers for 2017 were approximately 1.5 million people. The first phase of the foreigner-only casino features 154 tables, along with 281 slot machines, 62 electronic table games and 22 junket tables. Specialists estimate that Paradise City will experience a 6.2 percent year-on-year decline in the number of Chinese high rollers in 2017. “The second phase is 55 percent finished,” said the official the news outlet.
Last month, the National Gambling Control Commission from South Korea unveiled details of the country’s foreigner-only casinos: the facilities totaled US$1.14 billion in 2017, a 2.6 percent increase. The news come as a breeze of fresh air for the national industry because in 2015 the sector experienced a year-on-year 9.7 percent decline, the first one in nine years.
