OLG adds IC360 tools to flag prohibited bettors

IC360 says OLG is the first government agency in Ontario to adopt Bad Actor, its tool against threats and harassment targeting athletes.

Key takeaways:

  • OLG’s agreement with IC360 covers its online and retail sportsbook operations, which use Kambi’s omnichannel technology, while ProhiBet and Bad Actor apply specifically to digital sports betting.
  • The partnership combines three services: an integrity monitoring dashboard, ProhiBet and Bad Actor.
  • OLG says the tools will strengthen its ability to identify and report suspicious betting patterns, enforce wagering restrictions and help sports organisations identify people who must be barred from betting.

Canada.- The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has added Integrity Compliance 360 (IC360) integrity monitoring and prohibited-bettor detection tools to its PROLINE platform. The agreement covers OLG’s online and retail sportsbook operations, which use Kambi’s omnichannel technology. IC360’s ProhiBet and Bad Actor solutions will apply specifically to digital sports betting.

The partnership combines three services: an integrity monitoring dashboard that brings together global odds, anonymised betting activity and official data feeds, ProhiBet, which helps prevent athletes, coaches, officials and league staff from placing prohibited wagers and Bad Actor, a technology developed with Signify to address threats, fraud and harassment targeting sports participants.

The OLG said the tools will strengthen its ability to identify and report suspicious betting patterns, enforce wagering restrictions and help sports organisations identify people who must be barred from betting on certain sports or markets.

“Maintaining the integrity of our PROLINE gaming platform is always paramount,” said OLG Senior Director of Digital Sports Product and iSports Product Greg Sindall. “IC360’s robust monitoring and alert systems provide real-time feedback to ensure that our business and our players are protected. Additionally, ProhiBet flags prohibited players, preventing them from wagering on our events.”

In April, the OLG added a measure that requires online players under the age of 25 to set deposit limits after research showed younger adults were potentially more vulnerable to gambling-related harm than other age groups. Players will be able to set a daily, weekly or monthly limit.
