Oklahomans favour new casino

Two recent polls revealed that Enid city residents are in favour of a casino being developed in the area.

US.- Prior to a gaming venue being constructed, gaining local population’s support is key for its development. The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians tribe are looking to establish a casino on the east side of the city and have conducted two successful polls in the area that show that residents favour a casino offering Class 2 and Class 3 Vegas-style electronic games along with blackjack, poker, and ball and dice games.

Two Enid area polls reveal a majority of residents favor a casino offering Class 2 and Class 3 Vegas-style electronic games along with blackjack, poker, and ball and dice games, according to the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians tribe. According to the Enid Casino Perception Study, conducted by SoonerPoll over the last few weeks, 60.3% of the city’s residents support the casino. Most of them highlighted its potential to increase tourism and growth as it would attract 370k visitors yearly, competing with casinos in nearby regions.

The Enid News & Eagle company is carrying out the second poll, which shows at least 62% of locals say Enid needs a casino. The poll was created online and voluntary voters have submitted their answers online and have time to do so until this Wednesday at noon in the US.

“The 20,000-square-foot casino would also satisfy a projected 930,000 gamers in the market who would not have to travel outside the area to play and take their money elsewhere,” the tribe’s Corporate Board Executive Director Randall Hendrix said. He also explained that they expect a US$12 million injection into the city’s economy over a seven-year period and plan to generate 157 full-time jobs.
