North Carolina sports betting revenue falls in July
Gross wagering revenue was the lowest total since launch in March 2024.
US.- The North Carolina State Lottery Commission has released its online sports wagering revenue report for July. Gross gaming revenue for the state’s eight licensed interactive sports wagering operators totalled $22.6m, down by $36m from June and $20m from July 2024. It was the lowest total since launch in March 2024.
The handle was $370.3m, including paid and promotional wagers. Players won $344.6m. With an 18 per cent tax rate, the estimated tax proceeds for the month will be $4.08m, the lowest amount since the sports betting market opened.
In the first 12 months after launch, bettors wagered $6.1bn in paid wagers and almost $500m in free or promotional bets. A budget proposal presented in the North Carolina Senate includes a provision to double the sports betting tax rate to 36 per cent.
