New York sports betting handle tops $7bn since launch
According to figures from the New York State Gaming Commission, legal online bookmakers have reported a combined handle of $7.152bn from January 8 to May 22.
US.- New York’s sports betting handle for the four months since legal mobile wagering launched on January 8 stands at $7.15bn. That’s according to figures released by the New York State Gaming Commission for up to May 22.
FanDuel Sportsbook registered the largest handle of the eight licensed providers at $2.75bn. DraftKings Sportsbook registered $1.73bn and Caesars Sportsbook $1.58 bn. The state has collected $263.4m in tax revenue from mobile sports betting. New York’s 51 per cent tax on mobile wagering revenue is the highest in the nation along with New Hampshire’s.
From launch until the end of January, the state´s online sports betting players spent $1.6bn, setting a record for the largest betting volume in a single month of any state in the US, surpassing the previous one-month record set by New Jersey in October with $1.3bn in sports wagers.
In the first 30 days after the state launched its legal online sports betting market, players in New York wagered $1.98bn, generating gross gaming revenue (GGR) of $138.5m.
